The Guy

The Guy is a Comedy Short Film (19:17) that I wrote and Directed, as well as Produced and did my own Videography for. I worked with an amazing cast, consisting of friends and colleagues from Queen's University. The basic premise stemmed from a conversation I was having with my friend Annabelle Brophy (Playing TJ, in the film) where we we're coming up with interesting film premises. I had come up with one where everyone says they "Have A Guy." But the idea was that, "What if there was a guy at the top?" It seems stupid - and it is. It's kind of a satirical, acidic or comedy Farce, where the situation these characters are placed in - doesn't make any sense. Some thing simple as buying condoms, is way more difficult than it needs to be. The big twist - you'll have to see. Interesting thing about this film is that we shot the Opening scene the first day, right after I had completed singing at the Vanier Cup and worked in the morning. I worked 8am-12, then was at the vanier cup by 12:15 to perform at 1, ran home afterwards to eat and be one set by about 2:30. We filmed until probably 6pm. The next day we filmed the living room sequence and all of the montage sequences, then on the final day, we filmed all of the other sequences. The last day it began to rain excessively and the temperature dropped significantly. The last shot we got was the bench sequence. The bench sequence didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, but for what was happening at the time - it wasn't bad. We've submitted this film to KCFF and the Sony Awards - hoping to make it in.
