Spider-Man Across the Spider Verse (Contains Spoilers)

As any good Filmmaker should know, you must always alert people to possible spoilers before you write about anything. Especially a film. If there is one thing I can tell you, it's that Spider-Man Across the Spider Verse is a fantastic feat of Animation. Not only that, but the story is quite extraordinary. Imagine how much time is put into developing one Spider-Character. Amazing Spider-Man got 2 films and even though it ended on a high note with Spider-Man's return, it still felt like it was incomplete. That is the same with Sam Raimi films, but with a Trilogy. Across the Spider-Verse does so much story telling and character development, for about 4 main Spider-Characters, as well as showing off 100's of others with their own unique design. They also brought live action into the animation! SPOILER: Firstly, they showed off Childish Gambino as The Prowler, which completely sets up/continues his introduction into the MCU as Miles' Uncle and The Prowler. Secondly, they re-showed the Captain Stacy scene from the Amazing Spider-Man, as well as the Uncle Ben Scene from Spider-Man 1. These two scenes have broken me time and time again. Now I want to get into my theories for the next film:

There is one thing that stood out to me a ton, which is this thing they keep mentioning that every "Captain" that a Spider-Man cares for, dies. A lot of people were complaining in my showing. They kept insisting that the whole "Captain" thing was dumb and made no sense. They are absolutely right. Which is why I know that Sony is way smarter than that. They simply stated that it had to do with a Captain, but I believe it is because they didn't want anyone to look deeper into that. All of the Police Captains that have died, have all been Father Figures or Role Models for any Spider-Character. In this film, sorry to say it, Peter B. Parker kept insisting that he was Miles' teacher and that he was a good teacher to Miles. But he also had a heart felt moment where he told Miles, in layman's terms, that he thought of him as a Son. That he had Mayday Parker because of Miles because he wanted to have a kid as good as Miles. This is where the sad part comes into play. Miles finds out that his Father will be killed by The Spot, because his Dad is a Captain and his death is Cannon (Usually meant to describe something that is within the main storyline, but this film uses it to describe something that MUST happen or the world will collapse in on itself). When Miles says he has to save his Dad, the other Spider-People try to stop him. I don't believe that they will kill of his Father. But, someone made a good point to me. If there is a way to break a Cannon moment, it must have to be with something equally as catastrohpic and important. It has to be another Father. I believe that Peter B. Parker (From the First Film), will save Miles' Dad and cause his own death. I think it is the only thing that makes sense.

Now, with the good comes my fear for the future because of this film. Because this film went so BIG with it's amount of Spider-People, as well as its certain storylines, I'm fearful that anything the MCU does now with Spider-Man, will retcon these films. It could completely restrict what they do from now on. They do mention the MCU's Spider-Man, but there is a lot going on here that can't go unnoticed in the MCU. They also insinuated that there is only one Miguel O'Hara, which means that there is no 2099 Spider-Man in the main timeline, which completely changes that characters origin and importance (Being from the Future and eventually getting trapped in Peter's Time). I think that the next film (Part 2 or Beyond the Spider-Verse) also needs to end with the Introduction of Morlun. If you are unfamiliar with Morlun, read the Spider-Verse comic saga. Simply put, as shown in this film there is a web that connects all the universes as well as their past, presents, and futures. There is a group of, lets say vampires, that feed on the life force of Spider-People. When they kill them, they destroy their worlds and destroy a thread on this large Web. This Spider-Verse story is the main one. I think that this trilogy could be the big setup for a saga like the Spider-Verse story.
